A classic, rugged matte finish complete with protection, durability, performance and comfort.

All the design features and proven performance of the popular Cairns 1010traditional Cairns helmet on which it was based. But the Cairns 1044 sports a rugged matte finish that echoes the quiet confidence of experience. Like the glossy 1010, the newer 1044 offers the proven protection and exceptional durability of Cairns' DuraGlass fiberglass composite shell. The through-color composite resists chipping and cracking. And because its matte finish isn't painted, everyday nicks and scratches are harder to see.

  • Tough, through color, DuraGlas fiberglass and high-temp resin composite resists cracking and chipping
  • Perfect combination of durability and performance in a lightweight design
  • Three-position, rear-ratchet height adjustment ensures a secure and comfortable fit
  • Six-way overhead strap suspension system reduces shock transmission at the top of the helmet while providing a snug, comfortable fit
  • NFPA-1971-2018 Compliant

Lower profile. Superior balance. Cairns fire helmets have some of the lowest ride-heights in the market. Compare the crown clearance of the Cairns 1044 (or 1010), with(more...)

    Great Dome Piece

Be Careful with the 4' Face Shield I used the borkes and goggles but a buddy of mine had the face shield down and when debris landed on his helmet the shield broke his nose.

    A traditional solid performer

These are good helmets overall, they are light, durable and work. I don't like the leather sweatband they went to, other wise they are a solid piece of equipment. Like everything else you have to decide where your trade offs are going to be. I have a traditional Bullard I bought for use at my Volley Company, The Bullard is more comfortable but much heavier, the 1044 is far lighter and if you replace the leather sweat band to the old ones they work pretty good. The jury is still out on the Defenders, maybe when the leather sweatbands get settled with use they sit a bit better but they serve their purpose from day one.

    Find something else

Was given this helmet after promotion. Used it in three live fire training situations. Very uncomfortable. White edging around brim melted to my gloves when I reached up to adjust the helmet. Rode very high despite adjusting. Thermo-couplers showed that temp wasn't extreme.

    Everything i expected!

I bought this to relace my Bullard LTX (dept issue). Big difference it the weight and overall feel with helmet but i am very satisfied with the product. It is very well constructed and it is great to actually get a quality product for what you pay for it. Also, the defenders do not fit over prescription eyeglasses.

Out of the box onto my head six years of service many hot fires 70 plus. If you take care of your helment it will stay nice. If you clean your helment it will still look new. Many hours of heat fire and smoke and the carins 1044 has not missed a beat and saved me more than once.

    Good and Clean

This is the best helmet next to 880 Chicagos and N5A New Yorkers. I swear by it, and my department, to my pleasure, is issuing these as the new helmet for structual firefighters.

    Very good helmet!!

Very good helmet.. Construction is great. Like anything it needs to have time to break in.(the leather liner) The helmet is pretty heavy compared to the one I used to have. The defender visor is by far the best, way better than goggles. Goggles get trashed in no time sitting up there exposed to everything. Again this is a great product!
