Rappel 8

Just right for SWAT teams, climbers, cavers, and sport rappelers, the slightly more compact design of the Rappel 8 offers superb control on smaller rope. Machined from a 1/2-inch (12.5 mm) aluminum plate and sporting CMC’s superior proprietary finish for even longer wear resistance, the Rappel 8 contains almost twice the material of other small 8s, providing better heat dissipation. Because the Rappel 8 was optimized for use with NFPA Technical Use rope (9.5 to 11mm / 3/8 to 7/16 in), it is certified Technical Use.
* Certified range of rope diameters and CMC’s recommendation for best performance.

Super Finish On CMC’s Aluminum 8s
Whether hard or soft, the surface anodizing on aluminum descenders eventually wears through. Working with a company that specializes in material coatings, we developed a finish for our Rescue 8 and Rappel 8 that outwears every descender we’ve used. After years of heavy use, test samples continue to be used in CMC Rescue School classes without showing any indication of the surface wearing through.

Climbing & Rappelling Applications
The Rappel 8 descender is a type of descent device commonly referred to within the climbing community as a figure eight descender and is used for rappel, rappelling and descent maneuvers in the field in rock climbing, mountain expeditions, canyoneering, tree climbing, caving, spelunking and adventure racing.

Working-At-Height / Industrial Rope Access / Technical Rope Rescue
Working at height requires reliable, quality equipment. The Rappel 8 descender can be used with confidence for work positioning or fall restraint protection in work-at-height maneuvers for industrial rope access or technical rope rescue when used in accordance with the regulatory safety standards it falls under. Always use life safety equipment and gear according to the regulatory safety standards for which it is classified and/or certified.
