FLIR Introducts the Next Generation of Thermal Imaging Cameras

FLIR has expanded its K-Series lineup with the introduction of the K85-N thermal imaging camera, updates to the K75 and K85, and a new in-truck charger. Together, these updates are designed to improve visibility, performance, and readiness on every call.

Introducing the FLIR K85-N

The FLIR K85-N builds on the K-Series platform with upgrades that improve both visibility and usability in real-world fireground conditions.

What’s new

      • 640 × 480 resolution for more detailed imaging
      • Single gain design for smooth, responsive performance without lag or freezing
      • Improved contrast to better distinguish details in fire conditions
      • Enhanced search and detection modes, including hot and cold spot tracking
      • 2x zoom, video recording, and on-camera playback
      • Wireless streaming and OTA updates for connectivity and long-term use

What it means on scene

You get a clearer, more responsive image when conditions are at their worst, helping with faster size-up, better decision-making, and improved situational awareness.

Improved Firefighting Modes

The K85-N includes multiple viewing modes designed for different phases of a call:

      • TI-Basic: Main mode for fire attack and life-saving operations
      • Search Mode: Earlier colorization to help identify heat during size-up
      • Detection Mode: Highlights hot and cold spots for overhaul and search
      • High Heat Mode: Handles extreme temperatures during offensive operations
      • White Hot Mode: Simplified view for training and visibility

Why it matters

Instead of one static view, you can adjust how heat is displayed based on the situation, making it easier to find what you need faster.

New In-Truck Charger

FLIR’s redesigned in-truck charger makes it easier to keep your TIC ready at all times.

What’s new

      • Compact, durable design with fewer moving parts
      • Twist-and-lock mounting system for secure placement
      • Fits both legacy and new K-Series cameras
      • Smaller footprint allows for multiple TICs per vehicle

What it means for your rig

      • Faster, simpler docking
      • Less wear and maintenance
      • One charging solution across your entire fleet

K75 & K85: Better Performance, Easier Handling

FLIR has also updated the K75 and K85 with improvements that carry over from the new platform.

What’s new

      • Lower f-number for improved image quality and reduced noise
      • New compact battery design used across the K-Series
      • Updated grip and ergonomics for better balance and control
      • Tool-free battery access for quicker swaps

What it means on scene

      • Clearer images in low-contrast, smoke-heavy environments
      • Faster battery changes without slowing down operations
      • More comfortable handling during extended use
